Job summary

Havasu Regional Medical Center in Lake Havasu City, AZ seeks an Emergency Services Technician (ER Tech) to join the hospital's fast-paced Emergency Department. You will greet patients, support RNs, manage communications, and assist with admissions, transfers and supplies.

The ideal candidate graduated from an approved EMT Paramedic or EMT Intermediate program, holds BLS within 30 days of hire, and has at least 1 year of experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduated from an approved EMT Paramedic or EMT Intermediate program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of EMT/paramedic experience.
• Certified Nursing Aide license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and route calls; assist with admissions and charting.
• Assist RNs and physicians with patient activities.
• Monitor telemetry; identify distress signs and intervene as needed.
• Test and stock supplies; maintain equipment; clerical tasks as needed.
• Report abnormal findings to nursing staff.

How you’ll contribute

An Emergency Services Technician (ER Tech) who excels in this role:

• Greets patients and visitors. Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls. Calls codes, pages, and overhead announcements as requested.
• Enters nursing requests subject to the approval of a licensed nurse. Asks for clarification when necessary.
• Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.
• Performs needed clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and ordering/stocking supplies.
• Assists RNs and physicians with other patient activities as needed.
• Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
• Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately. Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
• Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.

What we're looking for

An applicant who has successfully completed Graduated from an approved EMT Paramedic or EMT Intermediate program.

Additional requirements include:

• Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire;
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Licenses: Certified Nursing Aide license is preferred.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  Graduated from an approved EMT Paramedic or EMT Intermediate program.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience.
