Job summary

Fairview is seeking an Emergency Room Technician to join the ED team at East Bank University Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. The ERT assists nurses with patient care, transports patients and equipment, sets up rooms, and manages supplies, acting as a nurse extender as needed.

The role requires BLS and an EMT/ERT or equivalent certification, with options including Paramedic, CNA, nursing program enrollment, or related experience.

Qualifications

• Required EMT/ERT or equivalent certification as listed.
• Eligibility for MN CNA registry or active CNA is accepted.
• Enrollment in an accredited nursing program with clinicals is considered.
• Minimum six months of hands-on patient care experience across settings.
• Completion of Fairview OnTrack Nursing Assistant program is welcomed.
• LPN licensure is an acceptable qualification.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients by wheelchair and cart.
• Assists patients with ambulation and positioning.
• Informs RN of patient/family observations and concerns.
• Responds promptly to patient call lights and requests.
• Upholds patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
• Performs tasks with adaptations for age and development.
• Obtains ordered specimens and transports them with blood products.
• Demonstrates adherence to proper procedures and assists in resuscitation.
• Acts as a nurse extender and supports nursing care activities.
• Documents patient care activities clearly and timely on the nursing records.
• Maintains room and supplies; restocks and cleans between patients.
• Performs quality control checks on equipment and reports discrepancies.

Education

Current EMT or ERT certification

Current Paramedic certification

CNA on the MN Registry

Enrolled in an LPN, RN, or NP program (with at least 1 completed clinical semester)

Six months hands-on patient care experience

Completed Fairview OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program

LPN licensure
