Job summary

Sentara Lake Ridge is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse for the Freestanding Emergency Department in Lake Ridge, VA. The position is on a swing shift (11:00am–11:00pm) with a sign-on bonus up to $20,000 for qualified candidates.

The RN will provide competent nursing care per the nursing process, meet departmental standards, and maintain required certifications (ACLS/PALS/ENPC within 1 year; BLS within 90 days). Experience in ED nursing preferred.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license or compact license.
• RN degree at an accredited level (AA/BSN/ Diploma/ MSN/ Doctorate).
• Emergency Department experience preferred for this role.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• ACLS/PALS/ENPC within 1 year of hire as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform competent nursing care following the nursing process.
• Adhere to standards of practice and professional performance.
• Demonstrate clinical knowledge to meet departmental standards.
• Ensure compliance with specialty requirements for Emergency Care (ACLS & PALS/ENPC).
• Maintain BLS within 90 days of hire.

• The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
• The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care‑ teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
