Join our dedicated nursing team at Sentara Obici Hospital, where compassionate care and clinical excellence come together. We’re seeking motivated Registered Nurses to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in our Emergency Department (ED).

Sentara Obici Hospital, located in Suffolk, Virginia, is a 175-bed, full-service community hospital known for its compassionate, high-quality care and strong sense of teamwork.

About the Unit

Emergency Department (ED) with 37 beds, including a 5-bed Behavioral Health Safe Suite. We treat approximately 53,000 visits annually (about 150 per day). The team includes emergency nurses, physicians, and technicians, working in a fast-paced environment with advanced technology and rapid response protocols.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care, following the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination). The RN meets standards of professional performance: ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN provides care across the spectrum—from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies—while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

Education

• RN-Associate’s Degree
• RN-Bachelor’s Degree
• RN-Diploma
• RN-Master’s Degree

License / Certification

• Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
• ACLS and PALS or ENPC within one year of hire

Experience

• No new graduate RNs considered.
• Minimum 6 months RN experience in an acute care setting such as ER, ICU, Intermediate Care Unit, or Recovery Room. Acute care experience in other units may be considered.
