Job summary

Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Kansas City area is seeking an experienced RN in Emergency Department to provide patient-centered care in a fast-paced level II trauma center. You will work MID SHIFT; 3 12-hour shifts with high volume and exposure to a wide range of emergencies.

You will coordinate care with providers, assess pain, educate patients and families, and ensure accurate documentation and compliance with certifications.

Qualifications

• ER nursing experience required; acute care experience preferred.
• ENPC within 6 months of employment start date.
• NIH Stroke Scale within 90 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention within 90 days of employment start date.
• RN Registered Nurse Diploma.
• BLS required upon start date.
• ACLS within 90 days of employment start date.
• TNCC within 6 months of employment start date.
• Minimum 1 year acute nursing experience; ER experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in the ER.
• Assess patient pain regularly and manage it effectively.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other orders from clinicians.
• Document care promptly and thoroughly in the medical record.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up.
• Advocate for patients and translate medical terminology for understanding.
• Prepare patients and families for future self-management.
