Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Marlborough is seeking a registered nurse to provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department. The role uses the nursing process from admission to discharge and requires collaboration with the care team. A Massachusetts license and BLS are mandatory; ACLS and a BSN are preferred.

The position supports professional growth and participates in quality initiatives. The schedule includes an evening shift with 12-hour blocks and 36 hours weekly, with holiday and weekend

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
• BLS is a requirement for every RN unless ACLS certification is current, in addition to any unit-specific certifications.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the Nursing Process for delivery and management of patient care from Admission to Discharge, appropriate to patient age.
• Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
• Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning.
• Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluates nursing care within the assigned setting.
• Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.
• Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
• Develops and documents Education Plan for patient/family/significant other.
• Ensures quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other health care providers.
• Administers medications and therapies per policy, assists with procedures and tests.
• Participates in Nursing Governance activities and supports professional growth.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and quality daily operations.
