Job summary

Southern Regional Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join their award-winning team. The RN will be responsible for delivering safe patient care in the Emergency Department, supervising nursing staff, and ensuring compliance with EMTALA regulations. Candidates must hold a valid RN license and relevant certifications, with preference given to those with ER experience. Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience as an RN in an acute care hospital setting; ER experience preferred.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The RN also guides patient and family teaching and supervises other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The RN is directly responsible and accountable for care given to patients in the Emergency Department, communicates with physicians about changes in patient condition, diagnostic results, and symptoms, and responds quickly and accurately to changes. Knowledge of EMTALA regulations and reporting of abuse is required. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Training

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certification upon hire and maintained.
  • Current ACLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintained.
  • Current PALS and/or ENPC certification within 30 days of hire and maintained.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of one year experience as an RN in an acute care hospital setting; ER experience preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN certification within 12 months of hire and maintained.
  • For EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric courses 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.
