Job summary

TriStar Skyline Medical Center seeks an Emergency Room Nurse Manager to lead daily operations of the ER, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care. You will oversee staffing, coach staff, and enforce evidence-based practices to improve patient safety and outcomes.

The role requires RN licensure in TN or a compact state, ER leadership experience, and current BLS; ACLS and NVCI within 6 months, and TNCC/PALS within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a hospital setting.
• RN licensure in TN or a compact state.
• ACLS/NVCI required within 6 months; TNCC/PALS within 1 year.
• ER leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee unit staffing and scheduling to maintain appropriate coverage.
• Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to ER staff.
• Ensure adherence to standards of care and clinical outcomes.
• Collaborate with disciplines to improve patient care delivery.
• Address patient, visitor, or physician concerns professionally.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Manager of Emergency Services ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.

What you will do in this role:

• Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care.
• Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Manage all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.
• Oversee care of patients on unit, providing consistent support and expertise to staff.
• Perform duties in accordance with unit specific standards of care and evidenced by completion of a competency skills check list.
• Maintain overall workflow of unit by ensuring proper staff levels.
• Manage and coordinates all unit activities including safety procedures, unit goals and department operations.
• Handle patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner.
• Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to improve patient care delivery.

What qualifications you will need:

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee or compact state required.
• Minimum 1 year of related leadership experience in a hospital setting required.
• Prior ER experience required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Trauma Nursing Core Curse (TNCC) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) be obtained within 1 year of hire.
