Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking personnel to perform maintenance operations, equipment operation, and emergency roadway tasks. The role includes snow removal, traffic control, and adherence to safety regulations across roadway maintenance projects.

Ideal candidates will hold a valid CDL, be able to work in physically demanding conditions, and follow MUTCD guidelines for work zones and detours.

Qualifications

• CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter.
• Ability to operate and maintain light, medium, and heavy duty equipment used for highway maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of work zone safety and MUTCD guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain light and medium equipment to perform maintenance and construction tasks.
• Prepare and operate equipment for snow and ice removal and other emergency operations; provide traffic control.
• Identify workplace hazards, wear PPE, and follow OSHA/VOSHA safety rules and procedures.
