IMTT is seeking an Emergency Response Technician to support Fire Prevention and Protection at the Bayonne terminal. The role involves responding to chemical handling, PPE, and life-safety concerns, including firefighting, spills, rescues, and incident reporting.
The position requires extensive emergency response experience, OSHA HAZWOPER certification, and strong knowledge of safety codes. The role may require on-site training and periodic drills, with potential for overtime.
The Emergency Response Technician supports Fire Prevention and Protection activities at IMTT. The role involves responding to chemical handling, PPE, and general terminal emergency management issues, including firefighting, spills, rescues, and employee life‑safety concerns.
Typical hours vary; the position is part time. Overtime and occasional weekend work are required as job duties demand. Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
Applicants must walk and stand on uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, and traverse inclines (uphill, downhill, or mixed). They must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies, work safely without posing a direct threat to self or others, and operate in confined spaces, over water, and at heights. The job requires lifting up to 75 pounds, bending, standing, or stooping as necessary. Applicants must wear and use respirator and other safety equipment, work overtime as needed, and may be expected to operate heavy equipment. Equipment used includes company vehicles, fire apparatus, two‑way radios, and emergency response tools.
