Thornton Tomasetti is seeking a Mechanical Foreman in Geismar, Louisiana. The role involves guiding maintenance technicians, ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance schedules, and interacting with contractors.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in industrial maintenance and will be proficient in mechanical systems. This position requires maintaining a safe work environment while managing maintenance tasks and preventive measures.
The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for guiding and directing mechanical maintenance technicians on daily activities, interfacing with outside contractors on equipment repairs and request for information resolution, communicating effectively with internal customers and outside service providers/suppliers, providing maintenance services to internal customers, executing site preventative maintenance activities, and supporting capital construction and commissioning activities.
Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm. This is a non‑exempt, hourly position. Employees are scheduled to work assigned shifts within a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays. All hours worked must be accurately recorded, and overtime is paid in accordance with FLSA and company policy. Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
The job operates in a professional office environment and an industrial maintenance shop and outdoor environment. Temperatures routinely reach 95–100°F in summer. The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require good physical fitness, including the ability to walk through uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders. Because the facility handles hazardous materials, the labor force must be able to evacuate quickly from any location without assistance in an emergency. The job requires strenuous activities and heavy lifting in an outdoor environment. Incumbent must walk rough terrain, climb stairs and ladders on 80‑foot‑high tanks and lift 50pounds on a routine basis. Must be capable of wearing respirator and/or other PPE during some operations or emergencies.
