Job summary

CSI Support & Development is seeking an Emergency Response Person to live on-site at Constitution Co-op, Charlestown, MA, to respond to emergencies from 7:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M. on weekdays and 24/7 on weekends.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding job requiring standing and walking long periods.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all company service and operating standards.
  • Assess the level of priority for each call received.
  • Identify the appropriate departments, vehicles, and personnel to dispatch to scenes.
  • Dispatch medical, police, fire, and search and rescue first-responders as appropriate.
  • Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers.
  • Snow removal and general grounds maintenance.
  • Light cleaning of community bathrooms and other duties as instructed by immediate supervisor.
  • Communicate with members, employees, and third-party organizations effectively.
  • Maintain a positive demeanor during difficult situations.

The Emergency Response Person (ERP) will be a reliable, trustworthy person who lives onsite, to respond to emergencies. ERP’s must be able to think quickly and remain calm under pressure. To communicate effectively, ERP’s need excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to talk with people seeking their help.

Essential functions

  • Interpersonal skills: Someone in this position has constant interaction with co-op members and must be able to maintain a positive demeanor throughout even the most difficult situations.

Work environment

An Emergency Response Person usually works indoors but may on occasion work outdoors as directed by their supervisor. Senior housing development is looking for a reliable, trustworthy person to live on-site, rent free, in Constitution Co-op, Charlestown, MA to respond to emergencies from 7:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M weekdays and 24/7 on weekends.

  • Stand for long periods of time.

  • Kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl.
Travel required

Travel may be required between co-ops in the nature of an emergency.

Required education and experience
  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding job that may include walking and standing for long periods of time
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Commitment to following all protocols and procedures
  • Commitment to building and maintaining professional relationships with co-op members
  • Outstanding verbal communication skills and strong written communication skills
W ork authorization/security clearance requirements
