Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must pass a lifetime background check and drug test.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NFPA Firefighter I and II certifications required.
• Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Level certifications required.
• National Registry or State of Indiana EMT/EMR certification required.
• Out-of-state certifications must be transferable to Indiana within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency scenes including fire, medical, bomb threats, flooding, hazardous materials, and other incidents.
• Arrives on scene, performs scene size-up, and relays information to dispatch and supervisor.
• Performs rescue procedures including extrication and high/low-angle rescues.
• Performs fire suppression using apparatus, hydrants, and extinguishers.
• Responds to hazardous material emergencies and provides spill containment.
• Responds to medical emergencies, assesses and stabilizes patients, and transports to onsite clinic.
• Relays patient information to medical personnel and documents treatments.
• Administers treatments following medical protocols at scene or in a vehicle.
• Performs triage during mass casualty incidents.
• Provides standard security duties and logs/reports.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.
