Job summary

The City of Richmond is seeking a Maintenance Specialist - Floodwall to perform maintenance along the floodwall system, operate gate and pump station equipment, and conduct vegetation management to ensure readiness for flood events.

The role requires handling mowing equipment, gate operations, and adherence to safety standards, with essential personnel duties including possible night/weekend/on-call work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Three years of related experience preferred.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Operate specialized mowing equipment.
• Maintain sluice gate, flap gates, closures and levees.
• Perform floodwall inspections per Army Corps of Engineers.
• Inspect and maintain gates and closures along floodwall.
• Ensure pumping stations are ready for emergencies.
• Perform vegetation control on levees and slopes.
• Spray vegetation with commercial equipment.
• Work in confined spaces and perform equipment inspections.
• Complete work orders as assigned.
