Job summary

County of Los Angeles, Department of Mental Health, is seeking qualified candidates for Emergency Accounting Officer II positions to address homelessness-related financial needs. The roles involve overseeing accounting, budgeting, payroll, and related financial activities within a Department during an emergency period.

Under the emergency order, hires may be made for up to 90 days with an opportunity for permanent County employment.

Qualifications

• Completion of 21 semester units or 32 quarter units of accounting including at least two courses in cost accounting, governmental accounting, or auditing.
• One (1) year professional accounting or auditing experience at the level of ACCOUNTANT III, INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTANT-AUDITOR, or ACCOUNTING OFFICER I.
• California driver license or ability to utilize an alternative transportation method.

Responsibilities

• Plans, assigns, directs, and evaluates accounting-related staff activities across departments.
• Advises management on accounting and financial implications of activities.
• Supervises or conducts cost, revenue, and accounting systems studies and implements recommendations.
• Analyzes and interprets accounting provisions of laws and regulations for implementation.
• Administers revenue-producing agreements.
• Coordinates work with other divisions and departments.
• Acts as immediate assistant to a higher-level accounting officer as needed.
