Job summary

The City of Amarillo seeks an Emergency Management Specialist to coordinate emergency plan development, help design exercise programs, and manage public awareness activities. The role supports budget and grants from State and Federal sources and leads multiple planning initiatives within Emergency Management.

You will respond to emergency events in the field or at the EOC, develop SOPs, and collaborate with City departments, residents, businesses, and the public to sustain comprehensive plans.

Qualifications

• Degree in Emergency Management, Planning, Business or Public Administration preferred.
• Education may be supplemented by 1 year of EM planning/implementation experience.
• Completion of NIMS/ICS courses and FEMA PDS within one year of employment required.
• Texas driver’s license required; CEM/TEM credentials preferred within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Serve as 24/7 Duty Officer on a rotating basis with OEM staff.
• Participate in EOC activations with/without notice.
• Maintain readiness of communications, warning, computer and AV equipment in EOC; arrange repairs.
