Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a Clinical ED Pharmacist to provide real-time pharmacotherapy guidance in a fast-paced Emergency Department. You will collaborate with emergency medicine providers to ensure safe medication use, support rapid response and codes, and contribute to departmental initiatives focused on ED care.

The role includes bedside support, medication reconciliation, therapeutic interventions, and precepting pharmacy learners in the ED setting, with involvement in

Qualifications

  • Education: PGY1/PGY2 ASHP-accredited residency; PGY1 with 5 years of progressive clinical practice
  • Experience: 5 years progressive clinical practice in specialty or 8 years in specialty
  • Licenses: BLS, Texas Pharmacy Technician licensure eligibility, ACLS requirement for inpatient positions

Responsibilities

  • Provide pharmacotherapy oversight in the ED and support rapid response and codes
  • Mentor pharmacy learners in the ED and participate in departmental education
  • Monitor therapies, interpret labs, and perform medication reconciliation and PK calculations
  • Support cost savings initiatives, formulary management, and evidence-based practice improvements
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to ensure safe drug use across care transitions
