Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking an APCT to support the ED team with rapid response and competent patient care. Responsibilities include monitoring patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, IV therapy line management under physician/nurse direction, and wound care.

The role also involves equipment maintenance, safety, HIPAA adherence, and assisting in education for new staff. Requirements include a high school diploma with medical/surgical training, BLS certification, and EMT/CNA/CMA experience

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent plus trade or vocational school in medical/surgical patient care.
• One year EMT, CNA or CMA experience preferred.
• Current BLS through American Heart Association required; EMT course or nursing school first level completion required.
• Two years of CNA/CMA experience can substitute for course completion.

Responsibilities

• Report changes in a patient’s condition to the nurse in a timely fashion.
• Document vital signs with accuracy using manual or electronic devices.
• Record intake/output and patient weight.
• Provide personal care assistance (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility).
• Reposition patients every two hours and use protective devices to prevent skin breakdown.
