Job summary

Essentia Health Fargo, ND seeks Nursing Assistants for the Emergency Department. The role combines Nursing Assistant duties with Unit Secretary tasks; 12-hour shifts, day/evening/night rotations, and an every-other-weekend/holiday schedule.

Provide hygiene, nutrition support, and comfort care, take vital signs, and document care. BLS within 3 months; CNA preferred or registered within 3 months. ED team supports patient safety and healing across care units.

Qualifications

• Direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist with personal hygiene, nutrition, and comfort.
• Safely transfer patients and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Take vital signs and document findings promptly.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance in daily tasks.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene care and assist with nutritional needs.
• Offer comfort care and other patient support duties.
• Safely transfer patients and monitor condition changes.
• Take vital signs and complete accurate records.
• Report any changes to the RN immediately.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment for healing.
• Unit secretary duties: phones, clerical tasks, computer work, logs.
