Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director - Physician

The University of Pittsburgh Physicians Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking an innovative and energetic Program Director to lead our long standing and highly acclaimed Emergency Medicine Residency program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching, research, collaboration, and engaging in rewarding clinical work.

Our department and training program seeks to accept the best candidates and make them outstanding clinicians, academicians, and leaders. We have a long history of graduates who are leaders in all aspects of medicine. Our faculty are active locally and around the world, experts in all aspects of emergency and acute care medicine, and frequently sought to guide policy and advances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead our EM Residency Program, ensuring excellence in quality, outcomes, and compliance with ACGME, institutional, and departmental standards. This happens in conjunction with a full suite of EM fellowship programs that do the same in their areas.
  • Oversee curriculum development and the educational environment to prepare residents for independent practice, scholarship, and leadership in emergency medicine.
  • Lead the team that helps accomplish these important aspects across a multi-site training environment.
  • Recruit and support outstanding residents while fostering professional identity formation, mentorship, and career development.

Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate must be board certified in Emergency Medicine with a minimum of three years of experience in residency program leadership.
