Job Description

TeamHealth is seeking a full-time, experienced academic emergency medicine (EM) physician to serve as the program director of the emergency medicine residency program at Abrazo West Campus in Goodyear, Arizona. This leadership role offers the opportunity to develop and expand a relatively new residency program that started in 2020. The program director will oversee all aspects of the residency, including strategic planning, accreditation, curriculum development, faculty management, and resident mentorship. The position includes dedicated hospital support and financial backing to promote a high-quality academic environment and enhance the program's reputation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight of the EM residency program
• Ensure compliance with ACGME accreditation standards and maintain educational excellence
• Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty and residents
• Develop and oversee curriculum, clinical rotations, and academic schedules
• Encourage scholarly activity through research, publications, and presentations
• Build collaborative relationships with nursing, allied health, and hospital administration
• Limit clinical responsibilities to no more than 20 hours per week on average

Qualifications

• Board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM)
• Active medical license and hospital privileges or eligibility in Arizona
• At least three years of experience as a clinician, administrator, and educator in emergency medicine
• Experience as a core faculty member in an ACGME-accredited residency program
• Educational and administrative expertise recognized by the review committee
• Record of scholarly activity, including involvement in organizations, research, and academic presentations
• Strong interpersonal, administrative, and team-building skills
