Job summary

iRecruitmd is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO) to provide rapid assessment and treatment of high-acuity patients in the emergency department. The role requires strong procedural skills, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and leadership of residents and APPs.

Responsibilities include performing airway management, resuscitation, and critical care procedures, while ensuring timely disposition and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Residency in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with EM fellowship.
• Board-eligible or board-certified in EM or FM with EM fellowship.
• Ability to obtain/maintain state licensure.
• DEA registration/eligibility.
• BLS and ACLS required; ATLS and PALS as required by department.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with emergent medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions.
• Perform emergency procedures including airway management, resuscitation, sedation, wound care, fracture stabilization, and point-of-care ultrasound.
• Assess acuity and prioritize care based on urgency; interpret labs, imaging, and ECGs.
• Initiate stabilization, treatment, and disposition plans (admission, transfer, discharge).
• Collaborate with nursing staff, consultants, EMS, and ancillary services.
• Communicate diagnoses and treatment plans with patients and families; maintain accurate documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers, residents, and learners.

(Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine Fellowship)

Position Summary

The Emergency Medicine Physician provides immediate evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting with acute illness or injury in the emergency department. This role involves the management of undifferentiated, high-acuity patients across all age groups and requires rapid clinical decision-making, procedural expertise, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high-quality care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of emergent medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions
• Perform emergency procedures including airway management, resuscitation, procedural sedation, wound care, fracture stabilization, and point-of-care ultrasound, consistent with training and privileges
• Rapidly assess patient acuity and prioritize care based on clinical urgency
• Interpret diagnostic studies including laboratory tests, imaging, and electrocardiograms
• Initiate stabilization, treatment, and disposition plans including admission, transfer, or discharge
• Participate in trauma, stroke, sepsis, STEMI, and cardiac arrest response protocols as applicable
• Collaborate with nursing staff, consultants, EMS, and ancillary services
• Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and departmental initiatives
• Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers, residents, and learners as applicable
• Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
• One of the following training pathways:
  • Completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residencyOR
  • Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency with an Emergency Medicine fellowship
• Board-eligible or board-certified in Emergency MedicineorBoard-certified in Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine fellowship training
• Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
• DEA registration or eligibility
• BLS and ACLS required; ATLS and PALS as required by department
