Job summary

Alameda Health System in Oakland, CA seeks an Emergency Medicine Physician to provide expert emergency care in the ED and respond to in-house emergencies. The role reports to the Medical Directors with responsibility to the Chair.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, consultations, timely documentation in the EHR, and coordination of patient transfers when necessary. Board eligibility/board certification and CA licensure are required, along with a valid DEA license.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an approved post-graduate residency in Emergency Medicine.
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Emergency Medicine.
• Valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.
• Valid DEA license.
• Compliance with EM Board mandated education and training to maintain licensure and board certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency medicine services in the Emergency Department.
• Consult with medical staff on appropriate medical services for patients.
• Refer patients to specialists when medically necessary.
• Document timely in the Electronic Health Record and adhere to standards of care.
• Coordinate transfers to other facilities when needed.
• Promote good relations with medical staff and hospital employees.
• Attend monthly Faculty and Quality Review meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by department leadership.
