Job summary

The Minneapolis VA Health Care System (MVAHCS) is seeking a Full-Time Emergency Room Physician to join the Specialty Care Service Line at the MVAMC in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Requirements include MD degree and full, unrestricted medical license in a US state, plus active board certification in Emergency Medicine or comparable training. The role involves 24/7 ED coverage, teaching responsibilities, and alignment with VA policies.

Qualifications

• MD degree from an approved medical school.
• Board certification in Emergency Medicine preferred; Family or Internal Medicine acceptable.
• At least 5 years of recent Emergency Department experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform medical screening exams for ED patients and initiate treatment.
• Provide continuous patient care and hand-off when transferring to another clinician.
• Participate in education of medical students and residents in the facility.
• Assist in tele-emergency care and coverage for VISN 23 EDs as needed.
• Adhere to JCAHO, HIPAA, and VA policies and procedures.
