The role offers a dynamic environment with a high volume of patients and a comprehensive support team. Physicians will be expected to handle all ER procedures and respond promptly to trauma cases. • Perform all ER procedures without restrictions.
• Expected to be bedside within 30 minutes for critical trauma cases.
• Manage an average of 1.5-1.8 patients per hour.

Job description

Description:

• Level 3 Trauma Center
• Stroke and STEMI center
• 70,000 visits annually
• 12 shifts per day, shifts are 8 or 9 hours
• Shifts include: 6am-2pm x2, 8am-4pm, 8am-5pm, 11am-7pm, 12pm-8pm, 2pm-10pm x2, 3pm-11pm, 5pm-1am, and 10pm-6am x2
• Always two board-certified ED physicians on duty 24/7
• Current team includes 18 board-certified ED physicians and 5 mid-level providers
• Significant overlap of shifts for continuous coverage
• Average patient volume of 1.5-1.8 patients per hour
• No restrictions on procedures; expected to perform all ER procedures
• In-house coverage 24/7: Anesthesia, Pediatric Hospitalist, Hospitalist
• Trauma surgery on call 24/7, expected to be bedside within 30 minutes for critical trauma cases
• Other on-call specialties include Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Neurology, ENT, GI, Nephrology, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery
• In-house Intensivist from 7am-7pm; Hospitalist covers ICU from 7pm-7am; Intensivist on call after hours
• The ED does not handle hospital airways or codes
• FAST track available for ESI 3-5 patients
