Job summary

Universal Health Services seeks an experienced Clinical Pharmacist for Emergency Medicine at Aiken Regional Medical Centers in Aiken, SC. The pharmacist will manage medication reconciliation, verify orders, and serve as a resource for toxicology, pediatric dosing, and pharmacotherapy in the ED.

Responsibilities include responding to code blue, stroke, and STEMI calls, ensuring timely dosing, and maintaining accurate patient medication profiles while collaborating with nurses and physicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy required; Pharm.D. preferred.
• Completion of a 1-year emergency pharmacy practice residency, specialty residency, ED/trauma certification, or at least 3 years of pharmacy experience preferred.
• Current licensed pharmacist in South Carolina.
• ACLS, BLS, PALS certification required for ED/FED.
• Knowledge of pathophysiology, interpretation of diagnostic criteria, pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics.
• Knowledge of Pyxis; ability to respond to toxicology questions and pediatric dosing.

Responsibilities

• Medication reconciliation for ED patients in collaboration with nursing staff.
• Interpret and verify medication orders; maintain accurate patient profiles.
• Respond to code blue, code STEMI, and code stroke while on duty.
• Assist with thrombolytic orders and ensure correct dosing within 60 minutes.
• Coordinate medication replacement during code blue situations as needed.
• Support nursing and physicians in toxicology, pediatric dosing and safety.
