Job summary

Highmark Health seeks EMS professionals to provide emergency medical care in prehospital and hospital settings. You will communicate with teams, drive EMS units, and perform life-support duties to transport patients safely.

The role requires a PA EMT license or EMS Compact Privilege in PA, a high school diploma or GED, and basic documentation duties. Familiarity with regulatory standards and HIPAA is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• PA EMT license or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in Pennsylvania at the EMT level.

Responsibilities

• Drives emergency vehicle (20%).
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury; provide basic life support and transport to the critically ill and injured in the prehospital setting (50%).
• Completes required documentation according to regulatory standards (15%).
• Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies including BLS and ALS; accountability for medications on every EMS unit per regulatory standards (15%).
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

There are (4) positions available

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured patients in the prehospital and hospital environment; effectively communicates with all persons and departments involved in the administration of emergency medical care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drives emergency vehicle. (20%)
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury; provide basic life support and transport to the critically ill and injured in the prehospital setting. (50%)
• Completes required documentation according to regulatory standards. (15%)
• Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies including BLS and ALS and has accountability for medications on every EMS unit per regulatory standards. (15%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• PA EMT license or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in Pennsylvania at the EMT level

Preferred

• Six months’ experience in the field of prehospital care.
• ITLS/PHTLS, ABLS, ASLS.
