Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• National and/or State EMT-Basic certification.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid Louisiana driver's license.
• Read/write/communicate professionally with coworkers.
• Knowledge of agency protocols and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Examines patient for signs of illness or injury and assists others as needed.
• Administers basic life support within licensure and approved protocols.
• Handles patient transfer to and from the ambulance safely.
• Transports patient to the medical facility in a safe and efficient manner.
• Documents patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.
• Maintains unit inventory and equipment and reports repairs.
• Operates the ambulance safely and follows company driving guidelines.
• Follows FCC regulations when communicating via electronic equipment.
• Precepts new employees or EMT-B students if assigned.
