Job description

Join to apply for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - West Campus role at Texas Children's Hospital.

We are searching for an Emergency Medical Technician — someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you’ll provide patient care and excellent customer service in the Emergency Center setting. Additionally, you will provide direct care duties under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with suturing, spinal immobilization, obtaining specimens, airway procedures, postmortem care, and transport.
  2. Provide one-to-one observation for psychiatric emergencies; assist with restraints per hospital policy.
  3. Collaborate with Emergency Center staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
  4. Work with multiple licensed personnel, prioritize delegated tasks and workload.
  5. Turn over the exam room for the next patient, following infection control procedures.
  6. Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills with patients, families, visitors, peers, and healthcare team members.
  7. Maintain ongoing communication with healthcare team members to enhance patient care.
  8. Support and maintain supply levels.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • EMT, EMT-A, EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P, or LIC PAR certification from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-year experience as an EMT preferred.
