Under the supervision of the Manager, Emergency Services and the Clinical Coordinator/Chief Paramedic, the L+M Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing safe ambulance transportation and patient care for patients.

Responsibilities
- Establishes a professional rapport with patients and staff.
- Collaborates with other pre-hospital team members to ensure that appropriate level of treatment is performed.
- Transfers patients to the emergency department of a hospital or other healthcare facility.
- Responds to 911 calls for emergency medical assistance.
- Reports observations and treatments to physicians, nurses, or other healthcare facility staff.
- Documents medical care given to patients.
- Acts as a role model in your area of expertise and professional practice by being self-directed, self-motivated, maintaining expertise, and promoting the emergency medical services system.
- Facilitates and models development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills among students.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant issues, trends, and practices in emergency medical services.
- Supports professional self-development.
- Assesses a patient's condition and determines a course of treatment.
- Provides first-aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured patients.
- Supports leadership in ensuring that excellent customer service standards are met.
- Reinforces behaviors consistent with customer service standards.
- Transports patients safely in an ambulance.
- Operates an emergency vehicle safely in accordance with YNHHS policies.
- Adheres to all applicable state EMS protocols, hospital guidelines, and YNHHS policies and procedures.
- Constructs a personal development plan based on self-evaluation and peer review.
- Inventories, replaces, and cleans supplies and equipment after use.
- Assists in the care and maintenance of equipment.
