Under the supervision of the Manager, Emergency Services and the Clinical Coordinator/Chief Paramedic, the L+M Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing safe ambulance transportation and patient care for patients.

Responsibilities

1. Establishes a professional rapport with patients and staff.
2. Collaborates with other pre-hospital team members to ensure that appropriate level of treatment is performed.
3. Transfers patients to the emergency department of a hospital or other healthcare facility.
4. Responds to 911 calls for emergency medical assistance.
5. Reports observations and treatments to physicians, nurses, or other healthcare facility staff.
6. Documents medical care given to patients.
7. Acts as a role model in your area of expertise and professional practice by being self-directed, self-motivated, maintaining expertise, and promoting the emergency medical services system.
8. Facilitates and models development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills among students.
9. Maintains current knowledge of relevant issues, trends, and practices in emergency medical services.
10. Supports professional self-development.
11. Assesses a patient's condition and determines a course of treatment.
12. Provides first-aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured patients.
13. Supports leadership in ensuring that excellent customer service standards are met.
14. Reinforces behaviors consistent with customer service standards.
15. Transports patients safely in an ambulance.
16. Operates an emergency vehicle safely in accordance with YNHHS policies.
17. Adheres to all applicable state EMS protocols, hospital guidelines, and YNHHS policies and procedures.

19. Inventories, replaces, and cleans supplies and equipment after use.
20. Assists in the care and maintenance of equipment.
