The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) performs routine medical and testing procedures under direct supervision of the treating clinician and supports in other areas of the facility as needed, including registration and referral management. This role requires efficient and accurate delivery of patient care in a fast-paced environment, ensuring every patient is treated with quality clinical care and a welcoming, respectful experience.

Responsibilities

1. Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
2. Prepare patients for examinations, including vital signs and ancillary testing (vaccines, phlebotomy, pulmonary tests, audiogram, respirator fit testing)
3. Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)
4. Assist providers during examinations and treatments
5. Determine the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish first aid procedures or need for additional assistance
6. Perform routine medical procedures as ordered and triage emergent patients
7. Prepare and assist with procedures and injury care
8. Dispense medications and DME per clinician orders and regulations
9. Administer first-aid treatments, including splints, oxygen, injections, wound care, or resuscitation
10. Communicate with emergency treatment facilities for further treatment instructions and patient reception
11. Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and devices
12. Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms
13. Complete required training, including clinical competency updates
14. Maintain and operate medical devices, including calibration and record keeping
15. Report equipment issues or supply needs to supervisor
16. Assist with patient flow and volume management
17. Inform patients about wait times
18. Cross-train to perform Front Office duties (greeting, authorization, check-in/out, communication, paperwork)
19. Follow HIPAA and safety guidelines
20. Attend staff meetings and maintain facility cleanliness

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician
• CPR/First Aid Certification
• Additional certifications (Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol, Hair and Oral Fluids Collection)
• At least 1 year of related experience
