Job Description

Salary Range: $22.33 - $35.95/Hour; Hiring Rate (Basic $55,692; Advanced $58,477)

Purpose Of Classification

The purpose of this classification is to respond to and assist on emergency and non-emergency medical calls, disasters, multi-casualty situations, fires, and other emergencies; treat illnesses and injuries of adult and pediatric patients, often under stressful and hazardous conditions, while operating under a complex system of standing orders.

Essential Functions

1. Operate emergency vehicle to and from the scene to facilitate the transport of sick and injured patients to the appropriate facility, ensuring safety and efficiency.
2. Evaluate incident scenes upon arrival, identify hazards, and ensure safety for crew and patients.
3. Assist with patient assessment, triage, initiate appropriate medical care, and evaluate additional resource needs.
4. Administer approved drugs within EMT scope of practice, assess treatment effects, and communicate patient information to dispatch, hospitals, and physicians.
5. Assist fire rescue personnel with rescue operations.
6. Complete documentation including logs, reports, and administrative records.
7. Maintain ambulance inventory, ensure supplies are adequate, and secure drug inventory.
8. Perform daily checks and inspections of equipment and vehicles.
9. Maintain current certifications through re-certification and training.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; one year experience as an EMT preferred.

Specific License or Certification

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License, current Georgia EMT B or A certification, BLS/CPR, and Infection Control certificates. Additional certifications may be required.
