Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• EMR licensure in each state of practice.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, help administer first aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured individuals in a prehospital setting.
• Assist with monitor of patient progress or responses to treatments.
• Interact with patients to build a rapport and provide emotional support.
• Assist with immobilizing the patient using a backboard or other spinal immobilization device to prepare for transport.
• Ensure ambulance is clean and washed and kept in a neat orderly condition.
• After each call, restock and replace used linens, blankets and other supplies, cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures.
• Attend training classes to maintain certification licensure, keep abreast of new developments in the field, or maintain existing knowledge.
