Qualifications

• Current Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification preferred or required by vacancy.
• CPR certification and related coursework may be required.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm patient location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about patient condition.
• Determine response priority using the dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources as assigned.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responders.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
