911 Emergency Communications in Bloxom, VA seeks Emergency Medical Dispatchers to support urgent medical responses from a fixed location. You will gather patient data, verify location, prioritize incidents, and coordinate EMS resources using approved protocols.

This role may require CPR certification and Emergency Medical Dispatcher credentials; EMT or paramedic credentials are not universal. Overtime and night/weekend shifts may apply; background checks and certs are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification before appointment may be required.
• CPR certification may be required; EMT/paramedic credentials are not universal.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm the patient’s location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition.
• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
