Job summary

County Emergency Communications in Ama, LA seeks Emergency Medical Dispatchers to join a 24/7 operations team. You will receive calls, confirm location and access details, and determine response priority using approved medical dispatch protocols.

A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required, CPR certification may be required, and EMT/paramedic credentials are not universally required. Training is provided and shifts may include nights, weekends, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies
• Confirm the patient’s location, callback number, and access details

• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities
