Job summary

The Nisqually Indian Tribe is seeking an Technician/Responder to coordinate disaster response, emergency management activities, and training across tribal operations. You will help prepare emergency plans and procedures for natural or man-made emergencies and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

You will also develop training programs, manage information flow for incidents, and support community events while maintaining strong communications with staff and tribal members.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 4 years' experience in Emergency Management or continuity of operations.
• ICs Training Certification: must complete and maintain.
• CPR, First Aid, AED Certification required.
• Washington State Driver's license required.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Must work with vulnerable populations (adults and children).
• State and FBI background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare plans outlining procedures for disasters and emergencies.
• Ensure plans comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Prepare emergency status reports and damage assessments promptly.
• Submit reports to supervisor and authorities with legal overview.
• Inspect facilities and test emergency equipment.
• Develop and test the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
• Coordinate maintenance of Emergency Management supplies and vehicles.
• Create and maintain inventory of equipment and vehicles.
• Provide annual training and safety instructions for equipment use.
• Provide monthly activity updates to leadership and stakeholders.
• Plan culturally based programs and community engagement.
• Attend meetings to promote cultural preservation and development.
• Create and distribute event flyers and calendars.
