Job summary

City of Houston invites applications for an Emergency Management Tier I position within Public Works. The incumbent will plan, coordinate and direct maintenance activities for city infrastructure and ensure crews have proper supplies and functioning equipment.

Travel and driving a city vehicle are required. Requires a high school diploma or GED, with four years of related maintenance experience; a related Bachelor's degree may substitute.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Four years of progressively responsible work experience in the maintenance field; a Bachelor's degree may substitute.
• Requires a valid Texas driver’s license and compliance with City driving policy.
• Preference will be given to applicants with verifiable supervisory experience in infrastructure maintenance; experience with pavement and work order software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and direct maintenance activities for city infrastructure.
• Ensure employees have adequate work supplies and properly functioning equipment.
• Organize and assign work, monitor progress, and resolve staffing/operational issues.
• Train and provide guidance to new employees; oversee preventative maintenance of vehicles and tools.
• Observe traffic control and safety procedures; operate city vehicle as needed.
