Job summary

ST MARYS COUNTY GOVERNMENT is hiring for a logistics support role within the Emergency Management division. The position coordinates, transports, deploys, maintains, and recovers emergency equipment and resources to support events and operations.

You will manage portable message boards, light towers, trailer cameras, and other assets, ensuring safety and readiness at all times. The role requires lifting, travel, and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors.
• Able to pass background check and pre-employment physical.
• Willing to work in a fast-paced emergency logistics environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with deployment, relocation, setup, operation and recovery of portable electronic message boards, light towers, trailer cameras, and other emergency equipment.
• Coordinate equipment delivery and retrieval for incidents, planned operations, training, and community events.
• Support Incident Command and EOC activities with logistical coordination during activations.
• Assist with planning and logistical support for county events, public safety demonstrations, festivals, parades, air shows and more.
• Coordinate placement of portable message boards and lighting for traffic management, public information, and safety operations.
• Deploy and manage trailer cameras and monitoring equipment for emergency management and damage assessments.
• Assist with warehouse organization, inventory control, and equipment storage/supply management.
• Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies, volunteer groups, contractors and departments for logistical support.
• Respond to emergencies during severe weather and major public safety events as directed.
• Ensure all equipment is operated safely per policies and manufacturer specs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• This position may be deemed essential during emergencies and called upon for response.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
