Job summary

Holland America-Princess (Holland America Dawson City Inn) is seeking a firefighter to drive and operate assigned fire apparatus during emergencies and routine duties. The role adheres to Borough policies and core values, with a 56-hour Kelly shift schedule.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, Alaska Firefighter I and Driver/Operator certifications, and at least one year as a firefighter. DOE pay range listed. Certifications and training are required or preferred as stated.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required and field training including college courses or apprenticeships.
• Three (3) years in the occupational field with at least one (1) year as a firefighter.
• Alaska Firefighter I certification required at time of hire.
• Alaska Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator certification required at time of hire (Aerial, Driver, Pumper, Mobile Water Supply).
• ETT certification preferred at time of hire.
• ICS courses completed within 90 days and within 1 year of hire.
• Successful completion of background check, drug screen, respirator fit test, PAT, and NFPA 1582 exam; annual screenings as required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies including fires, motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies and rescues.
• Drive assigned fire/rescue apparatus to scenes and during duties.
• Set up and operate apparatus and equipment at scenes.
• Operate pumps, aerial devices, generators and hoses.
• Inspect, maintain and stock firefighting and EMS equipment.
• Provide emergency medical assistance as certified.
• Deliver fire and life safety education programs.
