Job summary

Holland America Dawson City Inn is seeking a basic firefighter to join a crew in the Talkeetna Fire Service Area. The role requires living within the Talkeetna Fire Service Area and completing assigned tasks under supervision at emergency scenes.

Requirements include the Mat-Su Borough Basic Firefighter course or equivalent, vision and hearing standards, and necessary safety trainings such as ICS courses, bloodborne pathogens, and hazardous materials.

Qualifications

• Completion of Mat-Su Borough Basic Firefighter course or equivalent training.
• Vision: normal acuity to operate equipment and drive Borough vehicles.
• Hearing: thresholds no greater than 25 dB without hearing aids.
• ICS classes: ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 required.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, perform tasks to accomplish tactical objectives.
• Pulls and advances attack hose lines.
• Searches for victims in burning buildings.
• Ventilation, forcible entry, property conservation, and other assigned tasks on fire and emergency scenes.
• Inspects and maintains personal protective equipment, fire apparatus and related gear.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of fire stations.
• At EOC, perform functions assigned by Event Commander to respond and manage incidents.
• Perform related duties as required.
