This role is open to current and former IRC employees only.
Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Emergency Field Coordinator will oversee all operational aspects of program implementation in South Kordofan. The Coordinator will work closely with program, operations, HR, and finance departments based in the field. They will directly supervise the Supply Chain, Finance, M&E, and Liaison teams to ensure programs have the necessary operational support for timely implementation. The role requires regular travel to field sites and headquarters for coordination.
Main Responsibilities
Field Management and Program Support
• Promote strong links and exchange between operations and program teams.
• Ensure quality coordination and cooperation across departments.
• Support day-to-day field operations, including Admin/HR, Finance, Supply Chain, IT, and safety support.
• Monitor operational environment (security, politics, humanitarian situation) and provide updates to relevant teams.
• Advise on operational issues affecting project implementation and local developments.
• Support security and humanitarian access assessments for new areas or sectors.
• Assist in government liaison and engagement strategies.
• Collaborate with Program Coordinators to meet operational needs.
• Oversee operational oversight and proactively address gaps.
• Support M&E teams to promote accountable programming.
• Lead meetings and serve as a link between programs and operations.
• Perform other operational and coordination tasks.
Access, Safety, and Security
• Serve as focal point for safety, security, and access.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and security protocols.
• Maintain up-to-date Security Risk Assessments and Security Management Plans.
• Manage access and security issues in the field.
• Lead security incident responses in coordination with senior management.
Compliance and Financial Management
• Contribute to local policy development to ensure procurement and recruitment compliance.
• Oversee field office budgets, staffing, and financial planning.
• Review financial reports and support accurate forecasting and commitments.
• Ensure adherence to IRC and donor policies, including procurement and asset management.
Representation and Coordination
• Ensure compliance with local legislation and maintain positive government relationships.
• Represent IRC in engagements with authorities and external partners.
Human Resources and Staff Development
• Promote team cohesion and adherence to the IRC Way: Standards for Professional Conduct.
• Train, supervise, and mentor operational staff, setting performance objectives and conducting reviews.
• Develop capacity-building plans to enhance team skills and knowledge.
Qualifications & Experience
• MBA or degree in Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
• At least 5 years of international experience in conflict/post-conflict settings with leadership roles.
• Strong management, coaching, and capacity-building skills.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Cross-cultural communication skills; ability to work with diverse teams.
• Problem-solving skills; ability to work under stress and adapt.
• Security management experience in emergency settings preferred.
• Deep understanding of humanitarian principles and adherence in conflict zones.
• Strong coordination, networking, and interpersonal skills.
• Resilience and ability to work in insecure, remote environments.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
Working Relations
• Reports to: Emergency Project Director.
• Supervises: Sr Supply Chain Manager, Sr Finance Manager, M&E Officer.
• Internal: Program Coordinators, Grant, HR, and Finance staff.
• External: Logistics clusters, NGOs, UN agencies, authorities, vendors.
