Job summary

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) seeks two Operations Response Center Trainees to become ORC Operators, the first point of contact for emergency response. You will receive classroom training, on‑the‑job field experience, and real‑world operations learning to support 24/7 coordination.

Responsibilities include dispatch, communications, and system monitoring across SPU facilities. A high school diploma, 1 year in a computerized environment with strong customer service, and typing 35 WPM are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience in a computerized environment with strong customer service and typing 35 WPM.
• Must be able to work a seven-day, 24-hour rotation including graveyard shifts, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the designated point of contact for all utility emergency response activities and coordinate responses to emergencies.
• Provide centralized communications to field staff and coordinate with the Customer Service Center during incidents.
• Operate and monitor security, automated systems, cameras, alarms and access control at SPU facilities.
