Job summary

The Port of Seattle is seeking a dedicated 911 dispatcher to handle calls, prioritize radio transmissions, and dispatch police, fire and medical responders. You will be cross-trained to cover police, fire, medical dispatch and related call taking, logging data in state and national systems and maintaining responder status.

Requirements include 18 years or older, U.S. citizenship or eligible status, a high school diploma or GED, and at least 2 years of 911 dispatch experience with completion of

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen or eligible to work.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a full-time 911 dispatcher or call taker.
  • Successful completion of required Washington State and local certifications within the first year.

Responsibilities

  • Answer 911 and non-emergency calls, prioritizing and dispatching responders.
  • Coordinate police, fire, and medical dispatch and monitor responder status.
  • Log data accurately and operate state/national computerized systems.
  • Read maps, relay directions, and monitor security cameras and alarms.
  • Provide emergency medical dispatching including pre-arrival instructions.
  • Collaborate with tenants, travelers, residents, businesses, and partner agencies.
