Job summary

The City of Seattle CARE is seeking applicants for 911 and non-emergency telephone dispatch. Responsibilities include handling high-volume calls, routing to appropriate responders, and documenting cases with a CAD system.

Applicants must complete training and pass background checks. The role requires availability for overtime and various shifts in a 24/7 call center, with comprehensive benefits and advancement opportunities within the 911 Emergency Communications structure.

Qualifications

• Verifiable education, training, and experience in general office and telephone functions.
• Minimum six (6) months’ experience providing customer service in a high volume, high stress environment.
• Ability to access and input information into computer systems accurately.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming calls and texts from the public for emergency or non-emergency assistance.
• Screen calls to determine needed response and route accordingly.
• Generate calls for service using a Computer Aided Dispatch system.
• Interview callers and document case information and numbers.
• Assist callers with hearing/communication impairments and limited English speakers.
• Monitor applications related to calling and dispatching; re-contact disconnected callers.
