Job summary

American Medical Response in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Call Taker Associate to support emergency dispatch operations. This full-time role starts at $20.52 per hour, based on experience, and requires accurate data entry and strong communication.

You will apply Emergency Medical Dispatch concepts, allocate EMS resources, and maintain equipment and paperwork per protocols. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, EMS or public safety dispatch experience preferred, and good English

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimal medical training or telecommunications experience, or at least one year as an EMS or public safety dispatcher is preferred.
• Strong reading and writing in English; clear radio/phone communication.

Responsibilities

• Understand and implement Emergency Medical Dispatch concepts as published and as customized by AMR.
• Allocate EMS resources using decision-making rules and approved protocols.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of paperwork before shift end.
• Accurately enter data for the shift, including State Run Report data entry as assigned.
• Generate applicable reports and verify their accuracy.
• Assist in locating incident scenes and select the safest, fastest route using locator aids.
• Relay instructions from supervisors and messages, and emergency information.
• Maintain current knowledge of company policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and memorandums.
• Follow established parameters/formats when receiving service requests.
• Use and maintain knowledge of equipment including computers, printers, 911 equipment, recording devices, telephones.
