Job summary

The City of Kingman is seeking a Public Safety Call Taker for the Kingman Fire Department Communications Center. This role is the first point of contact for callers requesting police, fire, or medical assistance and requires calm, quick thinking to gather essential information for rapid response.

Responsibilities include handling emergency and non-emergency calls, entering data into CAD, and maintaining accuracy as information evolves. Training and certifications will follow hiring timelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
• Experience providing customer service and responding to public inquiries.
• Basic computer experience.
• Valid Arizona Driver License or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications: ACJIS, EMD, CPR, Public Safety Telecommunicator, and NIMS IC-100/200/700/800 within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Emergency & non-emergency call handling for police, fire, and medical assistance; gather information from callers and determine appropriate response.
• Enter call details into the CAD system and continuously update information as it is received.
• Provide operational support and participate in mandatory trainings and accreditation efforts.
