Job summary

City of Azusa is seeking a Full-Time Police Dispatcher to answer 911 and routine calls, screen and prioritize requests, and dispatch police units as needed. The role requires strong typing, clear communication, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

Essential duties include maintaining logs, operating dispatch tech, and coordinating with field personnel. Applicants must have a high school diploma and relevant clerical experience; typing certificate (40 WPM) is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent AND two (2) years of experience in typing and general clerical work including one year of experience with required considerable public contact.
• Typing certificate required with 40 net WPM.
• Ability to communicate clearly, follow instructions, and work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Receives requests for police or other emergency services over the phone.
• Answers 911 calls.
• Screens calls for priority and response requirements.
• Dispatches police units as needed.
• Maintains accurate logs and uses dispatch equipment and codes.
