Job summary

Metropolitan Utilities District seeks a Communications Clerk II to manage field service dispatch, communicate work orders, monitor the 811 locate system, and coordinate with customers and responders using phone, radio, and GIS tools.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED with at least 4 years in emergency/public safety and 2 years in customer-facing roles; proficiency in MS Office, SAP and GIS is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years emergency/public safety experience; handling emergencies under pressure.
  • Minimum 2 years direct customer contact with outside customers.
  • Experience with multiple communications media: email, mobile radio/web, telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Handle emergencies and dispatch urgent orders; document records.
  • Send email notifications during emergencies per procedures.
  • Navigate GIS/GPS for service info and technician locations.
  • Communicate with outside fire/police when dispatching emergency personnel.
  • Assign and re-assign work orders to field staff as needed.
  • Maintain locate tickets and related records; update software systems.
