Job summary

Charleston Water System is seeking a Dispatcher to provide effective communication support, receiving, logging, and relaying information to and from customers and internal teams. The role involves coordinating dispatches across Water Distribution, Wastewater, and other departments via phone and MS Teams.

The position requires multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, strong listening and verbal skills, and the ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, emergencies and holidays.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of customer contact experience in a related field. HS Diploma or GED preferred.
• Must demonstrate a working knowledge of written and verbal communication skills.
• Geographical knowledge of service area or map reading skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive, log, and relay pertinent information to and from associates and external customers.
• Dispatch complex emergency services requests between customers and CWS associates via telephone and Microsoft Teams.
• Communicate with office and field staff to provide information needed to locate meters, mains, and other infrastructure.
• Create, cancel and resolve work orders and maintain MS Teams and telephone communications for disseminating information to field staff.
• Follow up on pending work with customers and update files.
